Clinton regrets saying 'half' of Trump backers 'deplorables'

Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, under fire for calling half of Donald Trump’s supporters “deplorables,” said Saturday she regretted the remark, but insisted she would not stop calling out “bigotry and racist rhetoric” in the campaign. Trump, 70, angrily fired back, calling her words “insulting.” Her comments instantly went viral, and Clinton was the target of a fiery Twitter backlash. “It’s deplorable that Trump has built his campaign largely on prejudice and paranoia and given a national platform to hateful views and voices, including by retweeting fringe bigots with a few dozen followers and spreading their message to 11 million people,” she said.
