EU proposes visa-free travel for Ukrainians

EU Commissioner of Migration & Home Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos gives a press conference at the EU Headquarters in Brussels on April 6, 2016The EU on Wednesday proposed offering visa-free travel in Europe to Ukrainians, delivering on a key pledge to the pro-Western government in Kiev. “Today we follow up on our commitment to propose short-stay visa-free travel to the EU for Ukrainian citizens with biometric passports,” EU Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos told a news briefing in Brussels. “This is the result of the success of the Ukrainian government in achieving far-reaching and difficult reforms in the Justice and Home Affairs area and beyond,” he added.
