Ice hockey: Obama owes Harper beers after Canadian wins

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper aimed to collect Friday on a wager for beer with US President Barack Obama after Canada’s women’s and men’s Olympic ice hockey teams beat US squads. Canada defeated the US men 1-0 in the Sochi Olympic men’s semi-finals, advancing to Sunday’s final against Sweden in a tournament filled with stars from the National Hockey League. “That is a shame,” White House press secretary Jay Carney commented after learning the final score. “Congratulations to Canada, they certainly know their way around a hockey rink,” he added.
