Ireland rebound with 0.6% Q2 growth

Ireland's economy rebounded with 0.6 percent growth in the second quarter -- a slight rise compared to the contraction seen in the first quarterIreland continued to show healthy employment growth at 1.1 percent, the second strongest performance in the European Union but, conversely, consumer spending in the three months fell by 0.5 percent after an increase of 0.7 percent the previous quarter. Austin Hughes, chief economist at KBC Bank Ireland described the figures as “reasonably representative” but also gave a familiar health warning.
