Jailed American, safely back home, hails Cuba shift

News of his release earlier in the day was the first sign that Washington would restore diplomatic ties with the communist-ruled Caribbean island. Gross said he was “very happy” to see Obama announce the policy shift, in a televised address that he watched live alongside Secretary of State John Kerry on a sofa at Andrews Air Force Base.
