John Kerry in Moscow for Last-Chance Attempt to Find Syria Solution

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow today in what is being billed as a last-chance effort by the Obama administration to achieve a breakthrough with Russia on the Syria conflict before President Obama leaves office. Kerry met with Putin in the Kremlin today for a brief meeting ahead of discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday morning. With a ceasefire in Syria crumbling, U.S. officials said Kerry was travelling to Moscow to offer Putin military cooperation on intelligence and targeting information against jihadist groups in Syria, something Russia has been requesting for months and previously resisted strongly by some in the Pentagon and the White House.
