Main contenders for Tunisia president

The outgoing president was elected by the Constituent Assembly in 2011. A rights activist exiled under deposed president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Marzouki allied himself with the Islamist Ennahda party. At 87, he is the oldest presidential candidate.
