Malaysia on verge of football elimination

Malaysia’s 1-0 defeat to Thailand left them on the brink of elimination after a forgettable campaign in which they lost 5-1 to Vietnam and playmaker Nazmi Faiz was banned for spitting at an opponent. Singapore were cursing the unpredictable bounce of Jalan Besar Stadium’s all-weather pitch after goalkeeper Syazwan Buhari was embarrassingly caught out by a long-range free-kick.
