Mexico leader seeks to legalize gay marriage nationwide

Pena Nieto said he would send the landmark initiative to Congress after the Supreme Court last year declared it unconstitutional for states to ban same-sex marriage. “This way, equal marriage will be clear in our constitution,” Pena Nieto said earlier at an event marking the national day against homophobia.
