Obama to warn against ‘overreaching’ foreign policy in West Point address

FILE - In this May 23, 2013 file photo, President Barack Obama talks about national security, at the National Defense University at Fort McNair in Washington. Rebuffing the president’s latest plea, House Republicans would keep open the military-run prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by barring the administration from spending money to transfer terror suspects to the United States or a foreign country such as Yemen. The provisions dealing with the fate of the 166 prisoners are part of a defense policy bill drafted by Armed Services Committee Chairman Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon, R-Calif. The chairman released the bill Monday, two days before Republicans and Democrats on the committee will vote on the measure.
