Paris attacks spotlight turns on Britain

The fallout from last month’s Paris attacks spread to Britain on Saturday, as media reported that at least one of the perpetrators had previously contacted extremists in London and Birmingham. Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the alleged mastermind of the November 13 jihadist attacks, had links with “several” people based in Birmingham in central England’s West Midlands region, the Wall Street Journal newspaper said, citing anonymous Western officials. Abaaoud, a Belgian of Moroccan descent, was killed in a police raid five days after the November 13 Paris attacks, along with a cousin and an unidentified third person, according to French authorities.
