President Obama Rejects Keystone XL Pipeline ProposalPresident Obama announced his rejection of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline this morning following a meeting with Secretary Kerry. “The State Department has decided that the Keystone XL pipeline would not serve the national interests of us, and I agree with that decision,” Obama said. Obama, speaking from the White House Roosevelt Room, said plans for the Keystone Pipeline “would neither be a silver bullet for our economy,” nor would it be “an express lane for climate disaster.” He said he was not convinced that the pipeline would make a significant contribution to the American economy.
