Thousands of rebel activists marched towards the city centre from Change Square, the epicentre of the 2011 uprising that forced veteran strongman Ali Abdullah Saleh from power which the rebels have made a major focus of their own protest campaign. Some activists blocked the capital’s main thoroughfares, while others marched on government headquarters, witnesses said.
