Saudi Arabia gives UN $100 mln to fight terrorism

Saudi ambassador to the US Adel Al-Jubeir speaks to the press during the Middle East peace conference at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, November 27, 2007Saudi Arabia on Wednesday gave $100 million to the United Nations to support counter-terrorism efforts and called on other countries to do the same. “We have been stung by the evil of terrorism,” Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir told reporters. The funds will go to the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre, set up in 2011 to tackle new security threats from terrorism.
