Senate report finds CIA torture produced ‘fabricated’ intel and thwarted no plots

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11, admitted he fabricated what he told CIA interrogators in 2003 — that because of the rough treatment he was subjected to, he “simply told his interrogators what he thought they wanted to hear,” according to an internal agency cable quoted in the mammoth Senate Intelligence Committee report released on Tuesday by the panel’s chair, Sen. Dianne Feinstein.
