Spain's Rajoy faces doomed parliament vote to form govt

Spanish Vice President Soraya Saenz de Santamaria (L) and interim Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy pictured at the Congress (Las Cortes) in Madrid on August 31, 2016Spanish MPs were expected to reject the acting prime minister’s bid to form a government Wednesday, deepening the political crisis and triggering a countdown to a third election within a year. The opposition Socialists have steadfastly refused to back Rajoy, whom they blame for corruption scandals and steep public spending cuts.
