Top-10: Utah’s Support for Presidential Candidates by County

Mitt Romney received 93.1% of the 220,000+ votes from Utah’s Republican primary voters on Tuesday, April 26.

This level of support is not surprising to anyone familiar with Utah politics. Approximately 58 percent of Utahns are members of the the LDS church (mormon) and of that religious majority, two-thirds identify themselves as Republican. Romney’s religion, his undergraduate education (three years at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah), and his involvement as President and CEO of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics and Paralympics are all areas where Utahns can relate with him.

Which Utah counties favored Romney the most per capita, and which Utah counties showed the least support for this presidential candidate? And how did other presidential candidates fare? Let’s take a look.
