Two soldiers killed in Afghan 'insider attack' were Americans

The Pentagon building in Washington, DC, December 26, 2011The two NATO soldiers killed in Afghanistan early Wednesday morning by men wearing Afghan military uniforms were Americans, the Pentagon said Wednesday. “Two US service members operating in support of Resolute Support mission were killed (…) when two individuals wearing Afghan national defense and security force uniforms opened fire on their vehicle at an Afghan security force compound in Helmand province,” said Navy Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman. The NATO mission in Afghanistan had announced the deaths of two soldiers earlier Wednesday, but had not specified their nationality.
