UN's Ban condemns deadly Lake Chad attack

The Lake Chad region also borders Niger, Nigeria and Cameroon and and is frequently targeted by Boko Haram IslamistsUN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday condemned a triple suicide bombing on an island in Lake Chad, blamed on Boko Haram jihadists, that killed more than two dozen people and wounded scores more. “The secretary-general condemns the triple suicide attack on the island of Koulfoua on the Chadian side of Lake Chad on 5 December 2015,” read the statement released by Ban’s office. “These despicable acts demonstrate yet again the brutality of Boko Haram,” the statement added, offering condolences to the families of those killed and injured.
