US to send 20-30 special forces to Syria

The Obama administration will send 20 to 30 special operations forces to Syria to advise fighters against the Islamic State. This is an extension of the existing air operation in both Iraq and Syria. The additional U.S. troops will operate in a limited “advise and assist” capacity, without changing President Barack Obama’s overall mission to combat the militant group, a separate U.S. official said.
