US warns citizens to leave Burkina Faso after coup

Supporters of Burkina Faso's coup leader general Gilbert Diendere rally in Ouagadougou on September 21, 2015The United States on Monday urged its citizens to quit Burkina Faso in the wake of a military coup and authorized the partial evacuation of its embassy. The presidential guard has seized power in the West African country, but loyalist troops are said to be converging on the capital. The US State Department issued a travel alert warning US citizens to avoid the country and those already there to depart as soon as possible.
