Vatican prepares to open Argentina 'dirty war' archives

Cataloguing the records “could be completed in the coming months, after which the times and conditions for their consultation will be studied,” Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said. The archives contain reports by the Vatican’s ambassadors to Buenos Aires on the stances taken by Argentine bishops in the “dirty war”, as well as political and legal documents and references to the disappeared.
