Washington state moves to keep recreational pot from kids

Washington Governor Inslee arrives to talk to reporters about ongoing recovery operations for the Oso mudslide, at the Arlington Municipal Airport in ArlingtonWashington state, which is moving forward on allowing stores to sell pot for recreational use, will require child-resistant packaging on marijuana products, Governor Jay Inslee said on Tuesday. Inslee, a Democrat, told reporters at a news conference that state officials are particularly concerned about ways to keep marijuana away from those under the age of 21, especially children. The state also will require labeling of the active ingredients in marijuana and lab testing of cannabis products, Inslee said. The Washington state Liquor Control Board will issue licenses on July 7 to the first marijuana retail stores to open in the state, officials said.
