Obama instituted the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy to allow undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children to come out of the shadows and pay a fee to receive a temporary work authorization and protection from deportation. By definition, if they’re part of this program, they are solid, wonderful young people of good character,” Obama said during a press conference Monday, his first since the election.
